Closing Gala Dinner: Commemoration of the Civil Code of Louisiana of 1825

On 20 June 1825, the Supreme Court of Louisiana Historical Society  marked the close of its nine-month commemoration of the 1825 Louisiana Civil Code Bicentennial with a gala dinner at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. As the publicity stated this milestone event was to honour the enduring influence of the 1825 Civil Code and the contributions of those who have shaped and studied Louisiana’s unique civil law tradition.

Presiding over the event (as well as a number of splendid historic aircraft) were images of the troika of drafters: Edward Livingston, Pierre Derbigny, and Louis Moreau Lislet. The Blog is grateful to Georgia Chadwick for the photos, one of which shows the commemorative medal struck for the occasion.
