CFP: ‘Transalpine Humanist Networks in Early Modern Europe’

Call for paper(s) relating to legal history: 'Transalpine Humanist Networks in Early Modern Europe' panel at Sixteenth Century Studies Conference (2011)

Colin Wilder writes

I am planning to submit a panel proposal for the upcoming Sixteenth Century Studies Conference on the topic of Transalpine Humanist Networks in Early Modern Europe. The SCSC is scheduled to take place this year in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 27-30, 2011. We need one more paper for the proposed panel. My own and another contributor's papers will be about legal humanists and jurists at universities in France and Germany in the 16th and early 17th centuries, with particular emphasis on transfer and use of legal texts across networks of scholars throughout Europe. Channels might include correspondence networks, educational grand tours, in-text citation, intertexts or other. If interested, our proposal need not pertain to law, but I would like of course to weave together as complementary a suite of papers as possible for the panel. Network analysis papers in the topic area would also be welcome.

Note that the proposal submission deadline is less than one week away. If interested, please send a paper title, abstract of 200-300 words, and CV to Colin Wilder (Brown University) as soon as possible.
