About Us

The Edinburgh Global Mental Health Collective (EdGMH, for short) emerged from a joint vision of students, alumni, and staff of the University’s Global Mental Health and Society MSc programme to build upon the supportive community found in this programme within and beyond its academic perimeters. EdGMH aims to strengthen our collaborations and forge new connections, and in doing share news, experiences, and advice with the wider field.

EdGMH is built upon the core awareness that the GMH community is passionate, compassionate, and diverse. We all face difficult challenges, including establishing a sense of belonging during intensive studies, living during a cost-of-living crisis and extensive global turbulence, building clear pathways to further education or employment after studies, and several more. The EdGMH initiative works to create a welcoming space that reinforces our curiosities and collective strength.

“Our focus is on strengthening systems of support, engagement, and collaboration in GMH through accessible modes of connection and development.”

Some exciting news!

The EdGMH Collective is officially launched at Edinburgh’s Global Mental Health Day on June 7th, 2024!

We are thrilled to share that in November 2023, EdGMH was awarded a Student Partnership Agreement Fund from the University of Edinburgh to support the launch and growth of the project, with an emphasis on building community, promoting wellbeing, and supporting transitions. This has enabled us to establish a steering committee and headstart the development of EdGMH into a sustainable online resource.
