My thoughts on the plot

The whole experience is from the first view of the flower. The viewpoint has the life value of the flower. The sound could be like Hoopoe in Catching Fire, showing the emotions of the flower.

The flower grows from the earth and is later picked and taken home to the children of the family. The flower is planted in a pot by the child and is observed in the third person perspective of the family. The child studies, his mum and dad go out to work every day and his grandparents come to their house at weekends. (Here you can then watch childhood, middle age and old age.) Ways to increase interaction: for example the flower can wilt if it wants attention 🥀 so that the owner will come and water it and take it out into the sunshine. The owner can exercise in the sun while the flower basks next to him and watches him, and tries to do the same actions as the owner. Watch people’s lives from the flower’s first view and see their own life value. As time passes, the flower withers and the old man, for example, dies. The flower is eventually placed in the old man’s coffin, but as it is being placed, a wind blows and a petal floats up. The view follows the petal as it drifts higher up, overlooking the funeral, and finally drifts into the distance. The image fades and then reappears in the earth.

全程以花的第一视角体验。视角中有花的生命值。声音可以像《捉妖记》里面的胡巴,表现花朵的情绪。

花从土里长大,之后被人采摘回家,送给家里的孩子。花被孩子种在花盆里,以旁观视角观察着一家三口的生活。孩子学习、他的爸妈每天出门工作、爷爷奶奶会在周末来他们家。(这里就可以观看童年、中年、老年生活)增加交互的方法:比如花朵想让人关注就可以变蔫🥀,这样主人会来浇水,并且带它去阳光下。主人可以在阳光下运动,花朵在旁边晒着太阳并看着他,并且努力和主人一样做动作。以花朵的视角观看人们的生活,并且能看到自己的生命值。随着时间流逝,花朵逐渐枯萎,老人比如也去世了。花最后被放在老人的棺材里,但是在放的时候,有风吹过,一朵花瓣飘起来。(花朵的第一视角看到自己飘起来,但是花的枝干还在坟墓里)视角跟随花瓣向高处飘,俯瞰葬礼,最后飘向远处。画面渐隐,黑屏。然后又出现在土里。

Concept: user experiences options from different natural creatures.

My idea: the initial scene would start from in the abstract universe but correlate with natural spaces. The start point might launch from the abstract universe scene that a soul shape human would appear. The player would pass the abstract universe scene where consist by abstract trees, grass, mountains etc. There would contain three doors that each door would lead player to the next different scene to nature(Our group discussed the idea to open the door from a dark corridor to enter to the next scene when the first and second meeting. The initial open-door idea to go to next environment for our group project I remember should came from the Xinyue Lin or Qiandai Sun) The first door would be the scene that player would as the flower from a seed to bloom and might until nature decay. The second door the player might as a human that might experience the infant, young, old three age span. The third door the player might be a bee, would fly over the earth’s ground. The person’s life span and flower could still prolong the previous our group project finalised idea, and for the human stage the detailed part, I might prefer my previous suggested idea on discussion board1 from the blog(From Amber Zhang part on discussion board1: “My brainstorming suggestions for the three stages of life span: my brainstorming idea would base on the group discussion result yesterday(Wednesday): the group project would only focus on one of the life span about the young age to explore, and pick up objects only for rest of ages(infant and old) , I think for the young age could represent via one scenario: the main character could display in lecture space: the scene exploration design could be: the sunlight could be warm outside and flash light shining from window, the leaves could drop from the tree, it could be the Autumn season. The main character would start the view from setting on the chair and books and notes on the table (the view angle displays the book pages on table). The main character enables to stand up and walk around the lecture room. There could be notes on whiteboard, but no other people would be in the lectures. The lecture might be a biology class; the whiteboard could display sketches drawing of flowers with key points and learning knowledge, and one reminder on whiteboard could display: a test on Thursday. The main character enables to walk towards whiteboard to check the contents of knowledge on whiteboard and explore the entire lecture room. The lecture room could be big with basic devices: computer, projector, big window, desks and chairs, whiteboard. The background voice: the main character could hear other people’s talking from outside of lecture room, the ring bell sound, the background noise sound.When the time duration approaches to time limits (for instance: 3 mins), the scene transection trigger would display. And the voice might appear as well to tell main character the guidance to move to next scene.”) . The bee’s scene might end from flying motion. After each scene ends, the player would go back to the initial scene: the abstract universe to alter back to the soul to choose again. However, I might suggest each player merely have 15 mins to explore the entire story instead to loop the option to experience tedious.

After the soul transferring the different role from different nature species, the three different life spans could be considered to represent how the presence is performed. Meanwhile, the three format creatures are the three diverse ways to demonstrate the life cycle.

My thought about the storyline

Storyline

1.Flower perspective to Human

When the flowers decompose and float into the air, it will fly through a window and enter a room. Inside the window is a room for a child. There is a bouquet of flowers in child’s room. And the perspective will become third-person view and it will show some important stages in the character’s whole life. Like in his graduation ceremony, he will hold the flowers. When he has a baby, he bought his wife flowers. Or they take the flowers on a family picnic. And when he died, his children planted a seed in front of his grave, and then it begin a new cycle of life.

In this setting, the flower is not brought to the funeral at first, but are simply blown away by the wind.

Flower perspective for final group project

Amber Zhang:based on the group individual part, my individual part is to present how the flower bloom demonstration from vision. There are two different camera perspectives: one is from the bird view angle to demonstrate the flower bloom moment. Another is from the flower perspective.

I modelled, animated, lighted, and rendered this simulation animation for the group project stage1 from the flower perspective. This is the final render animation. And made one new flower to import Unity for my group member Qiandai Sun’s group project part for Unity demonstration.

Because the flower grows up in the garden at the beginning of our project, so I built a Unity scene of a garden, added some decorations and sunset skybox in it and imported the flower model built by Amber into it, and added a first-person perspective to watch it up closely.

Background
Death is unknown to people, and people are usually afraid of the unknown. In the eyes of most people, there is nothing when a person dies, but in this project we will interpret death from another angle. The Bible mentions ashes to ashes, and dust to dust. This sentence gives people hope to restored to eternal life. From a biological point of view to understand life loop, A series of biochemical events occur after death, the end result is a kind of “biological reincarnation” into millions of bacteria, insects, plants, and other living organisms. It is a kind of “rebirth”.Death is not really disappearance, death may be a new beginning.

The idea of ​​this project is to make the player one of the flowers. Participants experience the whole growth process from the perspective of flowers. We will enhance the audience’s immersive experience through changes in perspective, surrounding scenes and sounds. After flower’s life is over, we switch the perspective to a human through an animation, and then start the experience from the perspective of a human. Finally, when a person’s life comes to an end, and the player can only see darkness, the player will find that he has returned to the original beginning – a flower seed. It’s a life cycle.
Brainstorm
In the first meeting, we presented everyone’s ideas based on the theme of presence.
Final idea:
We combine two ideas (plant and death). I add the person’s perspective after the flower, and I put an animation to make the perspective change more smoothly. People pick the flowers to bring to the funeral. The vibrant flower actually died when it was plucked, but when it was put into the coffin, the perspective changed to that of the person lying in the coffin, experiencing a person’s life from the perspective of a person. When life comes to an end, when death is ushered in, and there is darkness in front of my eyes, I hear the sound of rain again, and then I find myself as a flower seed in the soil.

Reflection and Future Plans

In the preparatory work, some problems were exposed in teamwork, such as low communication efficiency and delay in completing tasks. We found that offline meetings are more efficient, and we will use more offline meetings in the future to hold meetings with a purpose. Each meeting needs to provide everyone with practical thoughts and ideas, otherwise it will be a waste of time to talk ineffective. Secondly, it is necessary to formulate a timetable and a division of labor table to implement everyone’s work, complete it according to the plan, and increase the participation of everyone. Because we have a large group of people, we care too much about everyone’s ideas when discussing the direction, disagreement, stalemate, and low efficiency. Therefore, we will use the voting system more to advance tasks in the future.

Future plans for the project. First, we will set up narrative design to perfect the story. How to set the second project to be more representative of a person’s life, and what kind of items will be selected are issues we will discuss later, including how to design the jumps of these three scenes to make them switch naturally. Let the player not feel too abrupt and achieve a more experiential “presence” effect. Secondly, we will make an appointment for a VR workshop to help us learn VR equipment, how to connect VR to the helmet and handle, and realize the interactive effect on HTC and computer. Idea1: death
Key words: parallel world, memories, virtual friends and relatives
The brainstorming for this project is to meet friends or relatives who might have passed away but could be seen in the virtual space. The method displays this project that is main character opens windows or doors or rooms to encounter different space about their memories. Each door or window or room represent different pieces of memories and scenes. We also discussed using sound effects or abstract objects such as particle shapes to express the memories of scene and animation. And these ideas are not finalised.
Idea2: becoming plants
Key words: different viewing angles, experiences enhancement
The idea for this project is spectator to become to one of the natural plants such as tree, flower. Rather than exploring and experiencing from humans’ perspective, participator will see from the nature perspective to live and sense. For instance, spectators as the plant might could see wind, rain, sunlight, bees come for collecting honey. Birds flyover. Insects climb around to seek out foods. Besides, spectators also enable to explore the growth stages and life span such as the leaves lengthen. We consider the sound effects in this project as well, such as the birds’ flying sound will reduce after the birds flyaway the plant.

Room switching: By clicking the handle button, the character model will automatically move forward.
Question: How to make the characters move in the small space of VR

The design of the handle function:
1. The controller is transformed into a specific tool
2. The controller simulates the hand, hand movements: pick up, put down, touch.
3. Controller buttons, quest2 buttons support touch recognition, touch and press can be recognized as two actions, that is, touch and press can be distinguished. In addition, the joystick on the handle is not limited to 4 directions. In the future, it can be considered to incorporate the idea of a knob in fighting games. This button can be pressed and can be used as a functional interactive logic switch button.

Life Loop project——VR, is a VR experience project that helps users fully experience life. The game runs mainly through the construction of VR HTC equipment and Unity.

The main functions used by users are:
1. Experience the life of a flower. At this time, the user cannot move. The user’s perspective is the perspective of the flower. However, the user can experience the growth of the flower through the first perspective controller and the growth animation of the flower. The perspective is slow from the seed in the soil. Slow to high. You can interact with the environment, observe the surrounding environment, experience the perspective of flowers, and feel the sounds of the environment: the sound of soil breaking, the sound of wind, the sound of rain and the sound of birds. Cooperate with the sound of the environment in the game, prepare 4D interaction outside the VR equipment, and refer to the 4D movie mode: shake the chair when breaking ground, sprinkle water when it rains, blow the wind in spring, and use sunlamps to create a heat source on the top of the head in summer , enabling users to break through the limit of 3D experience and achieve 4D experience.

2. Experience human life. The flowers are picked off, the controller switches to the human perspective, and the main player becomes a human. At this time, he can move freely and explore the space of the human world. Three scenes are set up, and different rooms can be selected by clicking on the handle button. They are infancy, adolescence and old age. A representative scene will be built. Users can move and explore the scene as a human subject, and can interact with some items, such as viewing books, letters, switching lights, using crutches, etc. When the experience of the three scenes is completed, the jump function will be used to jump back to the first scene for looping.
