Middle-aged video

I am in charge of the production of one of the middle-aged videos.  This stage is a middle-aged man with a successful career.  At this stage, I chose a visual pattern that is constantly flowing and advancing, and a more obvious mature and stable element for the video.  Whiskey shots, people walking, well-dressed businessmen….  The shots are interspersed with abstract, flowing patterns against dark backgrounds.

In the editing process, in order to better guide the visitors and provide them with a more personalized experience, I used more divergent and abstract visual patterns as the main body.  According to the keywords summarized in the previous research, I emphasized the word positive as the main tone of this life stage video.

Middle aged videos-family

I was tasked with creating two videos centred around the middle-aged life stage. Of the three options – success, family, and failure – I was responsible for two: family and loss.

For the family-themed video, I incorporated the following design elements:

  • Warm and inviting tones: To create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, I utilized warm colours such as orange, yellow, and brown. These colours helped to convey the warmth of the home and instil a sense of comfort and relaxation.
  • Light and airy design elements: I also included design elements that were light and airy, like clouds, birds, and trees. These elements helped to foster a sense of peace and tranquillity.

The video of Childhood

I am responsible for the production of two videos for the childhood stage. There are two options for the childhood stage: happy and challenging. Most people who have a happy childhood have memories of toys, sweets, and cakes. At the same time, I noticed that when we are children we see the world from a naive point of view and the things we see are significantly bigger. Therefore, I enlarged the graphics of the elements and gave them bright and vibrant colors. Also, there are some people who did not have such a good childhood. They may have been influenced by the background of their families and perhaps they would have been more mature and rational earlier. Therefore, in another childhood video, I chose to reduce the saturation of the overall color style, while designing special effects such as brokenness and cracks.
I chose to superimpose images and keywords on the same frame, while the video has a certain narrative quality, introducing the experience to a life stage of the experience.
I completed two videos of around 50 seconds. The content of the videos is mainly abstract drawings with occasional flashes of figurative images.

The Video of Youth

I am responsible for the production of two videos for the youth stage. There are two options for the youth stage: the positive and the rebellious. I asked ChatGPT for the impressions of these two different youth stages. For the positive youth stage, I chose some bright colors. The video incorporates light-hearted elements such as grass, blue sky, and water. For the rebellious youth stage, I chose lights in the dark as a creative element. Rebellious teenagers like to stay up late and seek excitement, so I chose the colors of neon lights late at night for my creation.

I would choose an abstract video clip and a figurative video clip and overlay the two videos or add some video effects. At the same time, I added some adjectives to represent the stage when the images were switched to lead the viewer to associate and think.

I have completed two videos of 40-50 seconds. The content of the videos is a combination of abstract and figurative drawings.

The Video of Old

There are a total of five videos in the old age stage. I used the blur and flickering effects of old TVs in all five videos to give the effect of time passing.

The Video of Death

The main content of the death video is the review of ordinary people’s life before death, so the picture is mainly black and white. The trains and tracks in the video are like a person’s life that is constantly moving forward, and the flashing point at the end is like the end of life. The images of reality interspersed with the video and the piled-up TVs represent people’s memories. The broken glass and game prompt sound at the end of the video are connected with the end game, reminding users that the exhibition is over.

The Process of Video Creation

When creating videos of different life stages, we used programs such as Processing and Touchdesigner that support sound visualization inspired by the poetry visualization video created by QIU with processing(https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1rw411Z7qW/?share_source=copy_web&vd_source=fb5a75f02cd563c03e19e33bf987133b). In order to ensure that the picture and background music are in harmony with each other, we have determined the theme and visual map of each life stage video. I used TD and processing to create a part of the graphics as video materials for everyone to use, so as to facilitate the creation and editing of videos.

Processing is convenient for creating black and white line dynamic growth graphics, while TD is convenient for model particleization, flame and other effects.

We determined the duration of each video to be approximately one minute.
