CHARACTERS

Crafting Magic is a collective means of augmenting reality through interactive storytelling.

To forge their cultic mileu, all players must become their fictional Character – role playing their dramatis personae all times during the workshop.

Character Cards

Each player will be selected by a Character when they choose a card from the Character deck.

You have one chance to swap out your card for another. You may only swap with one player in your cult only (you cannot draw again from the deck). If you like the card you were dealt, you can choose to stick with it.

Character Pages: QR Codes on Character Cards

Each Character has its own webpage. The QR code on your Character Card will take you directly to the card’s webpage.

Character Pages contain a mixture of research prompts. Each Character is described by conficting voices. The conficting voices are parameters within which you will determine how to play your Character. It is up to you to interpret these voices when creating, narrating and performing the attributes of your Character.

Read the information on your Character Page very carefully before looking up more information elsewhere.

Select Character – Sheet

Once you have worked through the information on your Character Page, you can start to fill out the blank spaces in the Select Character – Sheet

Try to envisage how you will play this character. Write down the key parameters on the Select Character – Sheet  and keep them as notes to yourself.

Once everyone in the group has worked on their character you must all enter into character for the remainder of ‘Crafting Magic’.

Each member of the group can now tell the others about their own character; working through the information on the Select Character – Sheet, remaining in character at all times.

Principal Character Confirmed – Sheet

The group should now decide which of the characters is going to be nominated as “responsible” for ‘Crafting Magic’ in this game. You can do this by voting. In event of a stalemate, toss a coin (best of three).

Once a Principal character has been chosen, place the selected card over the QR code on the Character Confirmed – Sheet

Principal Character Confirmed – Sheet

This sheet can be filled in by the person playing this Principal character to outline, briefly what tools the character might be able to use, what methods they use to create effects, and what sort of effects they can create.

Once this has been completed, please move on to effects:
