Hello, my name is Michel Rutendo Mandiopera a Social Worker, passionate advocate for mental health, social justice, and sustainable development. My journey is rooted in a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities, and I have been fortunate to wear many hats that have allowed me to contribute meaningfully to these causes. I hold a BSc in Sociology, National Certificate in Applied Law, a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work and currently studying Global Challenges at the University of Edinburgh as a Mastercard Foundation scholar, along with certifications. My professional and volunteer experiences have shaped who I am today. From supporting over 300 vulnerable children as a volunteer social worker to empowering women through economic literacy programs, I have learned that meaningful change starts with empathy, collaboration, and action. In addition to my work on the ground, I have also explored the power of writing and advocacy. As a UNICEF Youth Foresight Circle member, I collaborated with global teams to compile the Global Outlook Report on Children in Poly crisis, which reached over 3 million people. My work has also been recognized by institutions like Chatham House, UNICEF and the German Bundestag for its contribution to health and development discourse. Beyond my professional journey, I am the founder of The Social Scientist Sanctuary, a thriving community platform with over 5000 followers, where I explore topics like career growth and social sciences academic and professional routes. Creativity is also central to who I am. As a self-taught artist and poet, I have launched initiatives like art self-expressive programs that help people channel their emotions into art while curbing depression. Volunteering has not only shaped my career but also my well-being. It has taught me resilience, fostered lifelong connections, and opened doors to opportunities I never imagined. Through this blog, I hope to share stories, insights, and resources that inspire and empower you to make a difference in your own unique way. Let’s build a kinder, more connected world—together.
