What is Volunteering

Someone may be wondering, what is volunteering?

to support a cause, organization, or community without expecting monetary compensation Wilson (2000). It is driven by a desire to give back to the community, create change, and contribute to the well-being of others. Volunteers play an essential role in addressing social, environmental, and humanitarian challenges across the globe.

At its core, volunteering embodies the spirit of altruism, fostering a sense of purpose and connection among individuals and communities. According to Wilson (2000), volunteering involves “any activity in which time is given freely to benefit another person, group, or cause.” It is a two-way process that not only uplifts beneficiaries but also enriches the lives of volunteers by providing them with skills, experiences, and personal growth.
