Outreach activities – Charlotte Walshaw

November 2021:

Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh hosted a climate science showcase to celebrate the climate conference COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland. Multiple universities and industry partners were involved in the event, hosting interactive activities for children to get involved with. I took part in hosting an interactive Antarctic stall with my supervisor (Claudia) and talked to members of the public about polar research.

February 2022:

I took part as a panel member for a webinar hosted by the Institute for Research in Schools (IRIS) for the International day of women and girls in science. Within this webinar, discussions surrounding women in STEM and obstacles to this were highlighted and the aim was to encourage children of primary school age to pursue careers in STEM.
