Let's study Japanese!

Let's study Japanese!

Bring Japan to your Classroom in Scotland

Voice from a graduate: Adam Clark

The opportunity to study Japanese at the University of Edinburgh was a truly valuable and rewarding experience that opened many doors for me, both academically and professionally. My Japanese degree programme developed not only my language competency in Japanese, but also raised my intercultural awareness. As well as the nurturing environment fostered by the teaching staff within the department, the opportunity to study abroad in Japan allowed me a chance to further hone my language skills and experience firsthand the culture that I was interested in. Based on my time as a student of Japanese at the University of Edinburgh, I went on to further language study, eventually culminating in a PhD in linguistics. Professionally, I have worked in both academia and the private and public sectors. My career trajectory would not have been possible were it not for the groundwork laid during my time as a student of Japanese at the University of Edinburgh.
