Gordon Lynch is Professor of Religion, Society and Ethics at the University of Edinburgh. He was the Principal Investigator for project and responsible for its overall design, management and delivery.
Lisa Oakley is Professor of Safeguarding and Knowledge Exchange at the University of Chester, and Co-Investigator on the project. Lisa led the project’s work on victim-survivors’ experiences and reflections on disclosing or not disclosing abuse.
Johanna Stiebert is Professor of Hebrew Bible at the University of Leeds, and Co-Investigator on the project. Johanna led the project’s work exploring how sacred texts are used in relation to abuse across different faith communities.
Linda Woodhead is F.D. Maurice Chair in Moral and Social Theology at King’s College, London, and Co-Investigator on the project. Linda worked with Jo Kind to lead the project’s work on victim-survivors’ experiences and reflections in relation to resilience.
Yehudis Fletcher is an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor, co-founder of the think-tank Nahamu and has extensive experience of supporting victim-survivors of abuse in Jewish communities. Yehudis worked as a consultant to the project, advising on project design, delivery and analysis and communication of findings.
Jenny Hardy is Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Chester and worked with Lisa Oakley on the project’s research on victim-survivors’ experiences and reflections on disclosing or not disclosing abuse.
Sarah Harvey is Senior Research Officer at INFORM, the leading charity providing research-based knowledge of minority religions. Sarah led the project’s work exploring social and cultural factors risk factors associated with abuse in religious contexts.
Justin Humphreys is Chief Executive Officer and Head of Safeguarding Development for 31:8, the leading charity in the United Kingdom working on issues of safeguarding in faith communities. Justin led the project’s work exploring working relationships between those with safeguarding roles in faith communities and statutory safeguarding services.
Jo Kind has extensive experience of advocating and supporting victim-survivors who have experienced abuse in Christian churches and has been a national advisor on improving safeguarding in faith contexts. With Linda Woodhead, Jo led the project’s work exploring victim-survivors’ experiences and reflections in relation to resilience.
Eve Parker is Lecturer in Liberal Arts at the University of Manchester. Eve has supported the management and delivery of events and activities across the project, undertook a substantial literature view on religion and abuse and is co-editor of the main book of the project findings with Gordon Lynch.
Yasmin Rehman is Chief Executive of Juno Women’s Aid in Nottingham. She has extensive experience of researching experiences of abuse in faith communities with members of South Asian heritage as wide-ranging experience of work on safeguarding and serious case reviews. Yasmin worked as a consultant to the project, advising on project design, delivery and analysis and communication of findings.
Richard Scorer is Head of Abuse Law at Slater and Gordon. He has extensive experience of representing clients in cases of civil claims for abuse in religious contexts and was substantially involved in representing victim-survivors across a range of case studies undertaken by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse involving religious organisations.
