EPISODE 1 – Emily Yue and the Issue of Migrant Suicide

In this first episode Joe, Rebecca and Sarah introduce themselves, the Suicide Cultures research project and the podcast. They then interview their colleague, PhD student, Emily Yue about her research on “migrant” suicide in the UK. Emily raises key questions about what it means to be a “migrant” in the contemporary context of the UK and how this is related to issues of belonging and suicidality.  In the final segment, Joe, Rebecca, and Sarah link Emily’s research to a recent news story to show how her work is important and alive in the world at this moment in history.
