Autumn Dissertation Festival 2022-23
Want to find out more about the digital library resources available to research your dissertation question?  Interested in learning how to manage the bibliographic and research data you’ve found?  Thought about making your dissertation something special by using the fantastic collections available at the Centre for Research Collections?

Join us for a programme of online and in-person events and learn what the Library can do for you to help you succeed with your dissertation. Our programme will include sessions by University teams and external suppliers.

Digital Skills Framework

The Digital Skills Framework is a tool to help you evaluate your current levels of digital capability, reflect on your development needs, plan your development path and find resources to help you develop your skills.

Graduate Writing Centre Appointments (PGT only)

English Language Education (ELE) offers one-to-one academic writing tutorials for all postgraduate students. Their online one-to-one sessions are approximately 45 minutes long and are designed to give students the opportunity to discuss specific areas of academic writing with an English for Academic Purposes expert.


MyDevelopmentHub is an online portal to help you find activities, events and resources. MyDevelopmentHub aims to make it simple and easy for you to identify, engage with and benefit from the huge range of opportunities and resources available whilst at University. Its scope reflects the diversity of student life – learning and development comes through experiences in all parts of life, not only on courses.

Student Experience Grants

The Student Experience Grants are one-off contributions of up to £5,000 to support innovative projects and initiatives that will enhance students’ social, academic, entrepreneurial, sporting or cultural development.

Are you looking for a response to a query about studying effectively? Perhaps you are thinking about how to manage your reading, organise your time or develop your academic writing? Submit any questions related to study skills you may have using the form on the page above and we will aim to respond to you as soon as possible.

Study Skills Consultations

A study skills consultation is available to all undergraduate and taught postgraduate students. These consultations are 30 minute one-to-one sessions with a Study Development Advisor. They can help students develop effective study strategies and enhance current study skills. The session could be used to discuss such things as (but not limited to): effective reading, time management, and dissertation or revision planning.
