Lighting design-week4 Tracing the Sun Zhu ShenXu s2553129

In this week‘s workshop, we used some props to simulate natural lighting at different times.I chose the Oct21/Feb21 line to track because it is recently October and tracked the shadow shape from 9am to 3pm during that time period.

The appearance of the first set of props reminds me of the ancient corona. The shadow of the vertical pointer indicates the hour, and the horizontal arc indicates the month. Finally, the small house we added simulated the lighting at a specific time point.

Then, I used another set of props to simulate the natural lighting situation at seven time points, similar to the first one. There is a slight difference between these two sets of props. The first set of props leans more towards practice, while the second set of props leans more towards theory.

If we want to calculate the natural lighting conditions of a place, what do we need to know? I think the answer is the angle of direct sunlight, but the angle of direct sunlight is constantly changing. So, a grid about time was added to the drawings of the second set of props.

The last set of props is slightly different from the first two sets. This box is used to simulate the natural lighting conditions indoors. I chose the same direct sunlight angle as the first and second groups to simulate indoor lighting conditions.

I think this light looks pretty, without considering functionality. Perhaps it is because human nature is fond of light, so a beam of light that shines into a pitch black room appears particularly precious.
