Breaking the Narrative

To break the narrative of this project, I analyzed the piece of cardboard which depicts the element of  “destruction”  from bullet holes. To break the narrative, I wrote down several questions which crossed my mind in process of breaking the narrative.

After writing my thoughts in my sketchbook, I decided to break the narrative by portraying the fact that “despite being destroyed, these walls still look mesmerizing” and hold a great amount of historical value in our life.

I decided to use the art of “Kintsugi” to break my narrative.

What is Kintsugi?

Kintsugi is a form of art, originated in Japan. Mostly potters work in this form of art. In this form, the potters fix the potteries by mending the areas of breakage with powdered gold or silver.

This form of art has been built on the idea that by embracing destruction one can create even a stronger and a more beautiful piece of art.
