This Kandinsky piece influenced me as he uses long lines across the centre of his piece.  I liked the idea of using long lines as a representation of a time continuum, as the sounds surrounding you change every second .Here is the sketch before I painted over it I created different shapes intersecting and overlapping just like in my collage piece.  I tried to keep similar shapes as my collage:

  • The dotted lines is the sounds of the cobbled streets
  • the green stems that split off is the wind
  • the circles are the buzz of traffic
  • the triangles are the seagulls
  • the smaller rectangles are voices and words
  • the patchwork is music
  • the small squares are the rustling noises (my coat/bags and litter)
  • the rhombus represents the sirens.
