Week 8–artist research

Helga Mogensen

I was fascinated by how Helga used limited of materials to form so many different type of jewelry.

“In my work I focus on the connection, the connection to other people, connection to nature, connection to every breath.”

—the artist described the art work. I like the style of how he combined natural sources such as rocks, woods or stone together forming a piece of jewelry. With the combination of some manmade materials such as threads, wires and rope. The designer leaves the knit of the thread on the design in order to make it look really interesting and natural.

Making Coffey

This artist was good at using different type of natural materials and combined them to form a piece of jewelry. According to the images of the design, this designer used basic shape in each piece of jewelry in order to makes them looks mature and childish. The use with color in the design which are all bright and contrast color such as blue, red and yellow, or black and white makes the outcome a little bit rigid.

Rachel Darbourne

‘I am a maker, what I make reflects my perceptions of and confusions about the world, the people in it, the politics, the psychology, the philosophy, and the seemingly existential predisposition to violence.’ The artist said about his design. The designer is different with others, what he used in those jewelry are materials that can be recycled. Poly theme jewelry is one of the most common material made by him, this materials shows the feelings like papers and after the transition by the artist, they become to a blooming flowers which can be used as necklace or hand jewelry.
