The Moon Cup

‘Setting standards for sustainable periods.’

Pads and tampons are inherently bar for the environment, they are a signal use, non recyclable material that don’t break down. The application of a tampon is more often then not made from plastic, as is its wrapping and the same goes for a pad.

Periods are something a women can’t control and can’t do much about, it is what makes us a woman and we just feel proud and happy to be able to have periods, but for many of us they’re just a source of pain, discomfort and crazy hormones. To further that, whenever we then do have a period we have to feel guilty about the fact that we’re harmfully impacting the environment because of something that was given to us by nature, our periods. So would it be great to not have to feel guilty for having our periods every month. Introducing the Moon Cup.

The Moon Cup is a vegan silicone cup, made in the UK. It is a reusable cup which holds three times the amount of blood a tampon does. It is designed, trialed and tested by women to make it feel as comfortable and natural as it can, ‘so comfortable you can’t even feel it’s there’. It saves you money as you only need one!

The Moon Cup website is very like Grind as it also has a stopwatch showing Moon Cup users impact on diverting pads and tampons from the waste-stream, at the moment Moon Cup users have diverted 3,291,000,000 tampons and pads. This incentivises you to want to buy one and help contribute to this number. The website also has information on what size you’ll need, how often to empty it and how to use it.
