Week 9

This week I primarily focused on creating the Barcelona pavilion in sketch-up. I started the process by first importing the dwg from auto-cad and then tracing over the lines. When it came to making the base of the building I was having trouble with this as I had already traced over everything so I decided to restart. I created an outline of the building by using the rectangle tool and extruded the base to the correct height. Then I traced over the walls and windows of the pavilion and extruded them to the correct height. I also played around with adding texture and colour to the walls, windows and pool. These are not at all going to be the final colours of each object, but it was just so I could get the hang of it.

Some of the features that I learnt this week are autofold, section tool as well as camera and scenes. These features and tools are beneficial when constructing the pavilion as the section tool allows you to have a look at  a cross section of your building, this comes in handy, especially when there are objects in the way of your view. Some other intriguing tools learnt this week include organisation tools and advanced object manipulation, like array.
