I chose the title ‘Depth Perception’ because the light reveals numerous layers, densities and information in the final sample. It exposes a collage of hobbies such as flower pressing, vegetable printing, preserving what one finds beautiful or worth collecting. The red cabbage impressions and onion skin or onion mesh could also represent memories, perhaps from a special meal or the petals collected from a lovely stroll outdoors. During COVID-19 with limited sources of entertainment, having hobbies or forming a collection of items is something many can do. This lampshade sample encompasses all these items that may have very personal meaning to someone, meshed together to form a membrane that can be applied to any surface that light shines through. Of course this concept can be taken further but I chose to work with recyclable materials around the house and from projects 1 and 2 to create a lampshade design
