Post for Singers + Actors

hello everyone! thank you very much for offering to take part in this piece, i really really appreciate it. genuinely. i am planning on making a multichannel sound installation based around the hymn ‘Nearer, My God, to Thee’ and i need all of the voices i can get! (if you know anyone else who might be interested, please do forward this post!) so far the work is in very early stages still but if you’d like any more info on it before you submit then please do message or email me + i’ll respond asap.

Notes on recording:

please feel free to record however you like. on a phone’s voice memos page is probably easiest, but if you have other means of doing so you’re welcome to use those. don’t worry too much about background noise either, as long as your voice comes through clearly it’s no problem what else ends up in recording. if you could leave a couple seconds of silence or background noise before you start singing and after you stop that would be great!

Transferring:

once you have the files could you send them to gabriel.levineb@gmail.com – or if they are too large could you wetransfer.com them to the same email address. please let me know in email or notes the name you’d like to be credited under, thank you!

Singers:

below there are 8 very short parts, separated into different voice ranges. if you could listen through and make a note of the ones you feel suit your range, and then record yourself singing along to as many clips as you feel comfortable with that would be incredible. you can listen along to the clips in headphones when you record, and really don’t worry about getting the notes/timing perfect, just whatever you have time for!

p.s. you can sing in any way you like, ah’s or la‘s or whatever’s most comfortable for you – don’t worry about finding the lyrics of the hymn, it’s just the tune i am after.

(apologies for the weird robot voice)

If you could read out as many of the following lines as you’d like that’d be amazing. read however you feel suitable, and feel free to record them all in one voice note:
