About

The main objective of the Network is to interrogate administrative, periodical, and cultural representations of colonial Indian famines by Scottish administrators and travellers and Indian cultural critics. Currently there is no existing work that brings writings on famines together to understand how discussions and debates on food crisis in Britain and India have evolved both governmentally and publicly. We have an international team of researchers, library professionals, and curators who have expertise in these areas to forward the research agenda. The Network will allow informed academic discussions and include non-HEI bodies to disseminate the collections and debates to the public. Apart from these and the proposed scholarly and media publications, we will build a website with annotations of major works and a detailed record of the activities and findings of the Network project which together, we believe, will be a significant repository for global researchers.
