Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

A quick guide to Personal Tutor information for Informatics staff

Year Abroad

Personal Tutors are expected to confirm attendance for tutees on a year abroad and this can be done once a tutee has emailed them from their partner institution. There are also engagement monitoring responsibilities for students on a Tier 4 visa.

Personal Tutors will be asked to review tutees’ course choices as part of their Learning Agreement and these should prepare them for the subsequent years. They should be advised that workloads at US schools may be higher than expected.

Students who have failed courses and are scheduled to take resit exams are generally not allowed to take a Year Abroad.
