Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

A quick guide to Personal Tutor information for Informatics staff

Visting Undergraduate Students (VUGs)

Visiting undergraduate students (VUGs) have specified Personal Tutors who can discuss our courses with these students however it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that their courses are compatible with the requirements of their degree from their home institution. They are classed as Year 3 students whilst on their year abroad in Edinburgh.

VUGs are here for either one semester only or an entire year and should be taking either 60 or 120 credits accordingly.  They do not have automatic resits exams, unless it is for a non-Honours course, where they would be expected to take this in the August diet in Edinburgh. Special circumstances are dealt with in the same way as for home students. VUGs only have a maximum of two assessment attempts for courses at all levels (e.g. only one resit exam).

Semester 1 only VUGs are not permitted to take Informatics courses with exams in the April/May diet.

Transfer requests into the University of Edinburgh as a home student are dealt with the College Admissions team.
