A quick guide to Personal Tutor information for Informatics staff


Matriculation is the process of enrolling and registration of a student in the university.  There are four steps that new students need to complete the matriculation process:

  1. They register online
  2. You confirm their attendance
  3. They fulfil their admission criteria
  4. They pay their fees

Personal Tutors are required to confirm attendance at the start of the academic year for all of their tutees via EUCLID. This should be completed at the first Personal Tutor meeting of the year.  You should have a face-to-face meeting to confirm that your tutees are present in Edinburgh in person except for those students who are studying abroad for a year.  Contact via email is sufficient for students who are studying abroad.

For students who are studying on a Tier 4 visa you should record your face-to-face meeting as an Engagement point.  This is used to confirm that they are fulfilling the terms of their Tier 4 student visa.

If a student has not completed matriculation by Week 6 of Semester 1, the Student Records Team will withdraw them from studies.
