Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

A quick guide to Personal Tutor information for Informatics staff

Fee issues

The School rarely gets involved with any issues relating to fees and it is best to direct students straight to the Fees Department for the most up-to-date information and to avoid staff becoming stuck in the middle of a conversation. Their contact number is 0131 650 2230 and they usually answer queries quickly if called.

If a particularly vulnerable student is unlikely to contact Fees directly, the Student Support Team would be happy to do this on their behalf if required.

Financial Problems

If a student reports that they are struggling financially, there are a limited number of options of help available to them at the University. EUSA’s The Advice Place will be the most helpful place for them to visit and can give them further details on the discretionary funds that are available for UK and non-UK students who are experiencing financial difficulties and can give advice on budgeting and any benefit options available to them. There is also a laptop loan service available at the Main Library.
