Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

A quick guide to Personal Tutor information for Informatics staff

Students can request extensions to coursework deadlines via emailing the Student Support Team ahead of the deadline. The maximum extension allowed is 7 days, as per University of Edinburgh policy.

There are no 5% late penalties applicable if a student submits after an extended deadline; this reverts to 0%. The only exception to this is if the student has a learning profile which allows extensions because of a disability.

If a student cannot submit their coursework within this extended deadline because of circumstances that have affected their studies, they might wish to submit a special circumstances form.

Students can also request extensions to their UG Project and MSc dissertation; this is dealt with in different ways but handled by the Student Support Team.
