Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

Informatics Personal Tutor Guide

A quick guide to Personal Tutor information for Informatics staff

Exam absences and problems

If a student informs you that they have not attended an exam for reasons beyond their control, a special circumstances form can be submitted if appropriate. Reasons such as their alarm did not work or they got lost on the way to the venue are not valid special circumstances.

When a student is absent from an exam, the Informatics Teaching Organisation (ITO) will alert their Personal Tutor and the Student Support Team (SST) by email. If required, please liaise with the SST to see if the student may require to submit a special circumstances form.

Students can view their exam scripts at the ITO for feedback purposes. If a student finds fault with their exam marking that cannot be resolved by the ITO, they will be directed to speak to their PT. You can make an appointment to check their exam script at the ITO and liaise with the marker if appropriate.
