The Royal Society of Edinburgh has selected 19 of the University’s academics to join its prestigious group of fellows. This year, the focus was on those who have had a positive impact during the Covid-19 crisis, through academic research, their support of the arts or for playing a key role in communications around the pandemic.

The winners of the Edinburgh Global 2020 Photography Competition have now been selected.
The annual competition is open to all current international students, students who have had a Go Abroad experience and Online Distance Learners outside the UK.
The theme for this year’s competition was Edinburgh in Mind.
With different restrictions across the globe, the theme was chosen to inspire students to share what impressions of Edinburgh they carry with them, wherever they find themselves in the world.
If 2020 showed us anything it’s that we can all find strength, talent and resilience in even the most challenging times. Nominations are now open for the 2021 Being Edinburgh award, which recognises graduates who have displayed these attributes in their life and work. Their achievements are not necessarily well known, but their stories should be shared and celebrated.
